Conditions for Acceptance or Rejection of Manuscripts

The editorial office of the journal is managed in the Actavia system, which determines and standardizes the editorial procedures. Only original, unpublished manuscripts are accepted for publication; otherwise, the prior approval of the editorial board is required. Submissions to the Musealia, Personalia and Miscelania and Reviews sections do not undergo a peer review process. The author is responsible for the substantive content of the paper. The Editorial Board may make stylistic, spelling and formal corrections to the text (proofreading is carried out according to CSN 880 410). Manuscripts are subject to peer review. The editorial board decides on acceptance on the basis of the opinions of at least two reviewers, experts on the subject. Authors will receive proofreading of their manuscripts at the preview rate. Manuscripts are unremunerated; if accepted, the author grants the publisher the right to publish the paper electronically. The journal is committed to an open access policy and publishes papers under the terms of the Creative Commons CC BY-NC 4.0 International license (full text available at: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0/legalcode). Authors receive their papers in electronic form only.

Timeline and Procedure for Manuscript Evaluation

The journal is published online continuously throughout the year, with the conclusion of each volume on December 31st. Manuscripts are accepted for peer review on an ongoing basis without time restrictions. Reviewer evaluations are promptly made available to the corresponding author for revisions upon receipt from the reviewers. Accepted and editorially finalized contributions are published on the journal's website as they become available. DOI numbers are assigned to these contributions continuously.

Manuscript Requirements

Manuscripts are accepted primarily in Czech and Slovak, but in exceptional cases, they may also be submitted in English, German, or Polish.

After registering as an author, manuscripts must be uploaded to the journal's editorial system. Manuscripts submitted by e-mail are not accepted, and alternative delivery methods must be agreed upon in advance.

The manuscript should have the following basic layout: a short and concise title and its translation into English, the name and surname of the author(s), the address of the author(s) including the postal code, contact details of the corresponding author (preferably e-mail), keywords, abstract, the text of the manuscript (recommended structure of the introduction, material and methodology, results, discussion and, if necessary, summary, acknowledgements, references, and texts of appendices). Appendices, including figures, graphs, and tables, should be attached as separate files. Individual sections may be combined as appropriate, such as combining results with discussion. In certain cases, such as short communications, the manuscript text may not need to be structured.

Keywords: 3-10 words or phrases that summarise the content of the manuscript.

Abstract: The abstract should be concise and limited to a maximum of 2,000 characters, including spaces, and should summarise the main findings and conclusions.

Keywords and Abstract will be printed in English. Translations will be provided by the publisher.

The headings for each section of the manuscript should be written on a separate line, except for the abstract and keywords. The recommended maximum length of the text is 54,000 characters including spaces. Avoid splitting words or editing the text into multiple columns. Journal or book titles and manuscripts should be italicised in the 'References' section. When citing authors in the text and reference list, capitalise their names. Avoid using custom formatting such as underlining.

Images should always be uploaded to the system as separate files in formats such as JPG, TIFF, BMP, PDF, or EPS, rather than being included in the Word document. Tables and graphs should also be attached as separate MS Office files (Word, Excel), and their location can be indicated in the text by inserting a link (e.g. 'Fig. 1 here'). It is important to ensure that images are of high quality and resolution (minimum 300 dpi) to allow for printing in greyscale. Captions for tables and figures should be placed at the end of the text.

Citation of Literature

Please refer to previous issues of the journal for the method of citing literary sources. All sources cited in the text must be listed in the bibliography, and no other source may be used. Journal titles should be written in full, except in exceptional cases where the official abbreviation of the journal is necessary. Citations should be given in their original form, including the original language and case. If multiple citation entries have the same author and year of publication, distinguish them by adding a lowercase letter after the year, for example, PLAČEK 1999a.
